Payor Modes
Customer-Paying
With this payor mode, the customer covers 100% of the offset cost of a given order. In this mode, the customer is presented with an offset cost in the widget and chooses whether or not to opt-in to offsetting.
Merchant-Paying
With this payor mode, the merchant covers the 100% of the offset cost of a given order. In this mode, the merchant may or may not choose to insert a widget that informs the customer that the offset is being covered.
Hybrid
There are two hybrid payor modes that involve offset cost contributions from both the customer and the merchant.
Customer Matching
In this payor mode, the merchant covers 100% of the offset (regardless of customer selection) and the customer is presented with the option to "match" the merchant's contribution. In this case, the order is deemed "net carbon positive" as 200% (2x) of the carbon footprint of the order is offset.
Merchant Matching
In this payor mode, the customer is presented with the option to offset 100% of the carbon footprint of the order. If the customer opts to do so, the merchant matches this contribution and the order is deemed "net carbon positive" as 200% (2x) of the carbon footprint of the order is offset.
